Tune Up

Has your database size increased? Does it keep increasing? Has your site performance decreased? Has your hosting space quota overused and you receive warning message? We have created Tune Up to resolve your problems.

Tune Up is a small but incredibly effective maintenance tool for DotNetNuke. This module reduces the database size as much as possible and considerably enhances the performance of DotNetNuke.

Activities such as deleting pages, portals, extensions and the data not only does not reduce the physical size of the database, but also increases the size of the database file and its log. (Log file are used by SQL server to rollback your data, most of the time you don't need it on a share host).

If you experienced working with DotNetNuke, you would probably observe the substantial increase in the database size. I have observed a site with a database size of over 40 GB which managed to decrease it to less than 300 MB using this module. This issue is of high importance in terms of a variety of aspects as follow:

  • Physical fragmentation in the file system of your server
  • You might get over SQL disk quota thought your site can hold a lot more pages. For example: lots of DNN hosting providers give you quite generous disk space but limit you on the size of SQL database, normally 100MB, 200MB (including log file)... and that is not enough for many people. Use this tool to truncate SQL log file and live well with your SQL
  • Fragmented data can cause SQL Server to perform unnecessary data reads, slowing down SQL Server's performance
  • Your site seems slower than the initial speed when you first set it up

Tune Up Highlights

  • Instance Tune Up
  • Scheduled Tune Up
  • Log Tune Up operation in DotNetNuke site log
  • Filter Tune Up operation for specific portals
  • Shrink DotNetNuke data and transaction log files
  • Improve DotNetNuke performance by purging obsolete data
  • Keep specific number of versions in the history for each HTML Module instance and delete the rest
  • Keep data of Site Log, Event Log and Schedule History for number of the days and delete the rest
  • Use the internal Schedule of DotNetNuke
  • Supports From DNN 5.2.2 and higher
  • No Core Modifications, simply install and use module
